Sainsbury’s Case Study
Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd
Nature of business:
Sainsbury’s, founded in 1869, is one of the country’s leading supermarkets. The company has grown to become one of the UK’s largest retailers and today operates over one thousand supermarkets.
Sainsbury’s operates a fleet of several hundred temperature-controlled vehicles for its home delivery operation.
Problems faced by the client:
The company needed to expand its fleet and, importantly, make a vehicle weight saving to accommodate more goods per delivery run.
To increase vehicle capacity and load was the challenge set by Sainsbury’s engineers to Coolertech engineers. The company needed vehicles that would each be able to deliver a minimum of 1000 kgs of goods and products.
A lightweight 3500 kg box bodied vehicle design.
With our expertise and technical knowledge, along with the help and work of Mercedes, we delivered beyond this requirement in an agreed timescale.
Between Coolertech, Mercedes and Sainsbury’s, we were able to agree and engineer a design that exceeded all expectations. We are delighted that we were able to achieve all of our client’s requirements.
