Crescent Racing Case Study
Nature of business:
Crescent Racing runs a team – Voltcom Crescent Suzuki – in the World Superbike Racing Series.
For 2015, Voltcom Crescent Suzuki is competing in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship with Alex Lowes and a new team rider. Frenchman, Randy de Puniet has joined former British Superbike Champion, Alex Lowes, who gained valuable experience and two podium-finishes in 2014 in his rookie season under the leadership of Team Principal, Paul Denning.
The company is based in Dorset, on the South Coast of England.
During race meetings, the pit garages used by Crescent Racing are lined with the team’s advertising boards and corporate branding. The team therefore needs to transport these to each race track across Europe in its transporter. A rolling cage was being used for this which occupied a considerable amount of space in the main body of the trailer.
Problems faced by the client and objectives:
- Stability of the rolling cage
- Safe storage of the boards
Coolertech designed a cassette rack system that could accommodate all the team’s advertising boards safely and securely.
The rack was constructed so that it would fit in one of the storage compartments beneath the floor surface of the trailer. This is accessed quite simply via the lifting door on the side of the trailer’s exterior. The rack is fixed into place to avoid movement when the trailer is in motion.
Each advertising board has its own slot in the rack and slides in and out quickly and easily without risk of damage.
This design has freed up valuable space in the main trailer. This allows Crescent to make the best possible use of the space available for other essential motorcycle, rider and team equipment.
